A woman has died after a fire at a mansion near Dolgellau.
A joint investigation’s underway into the cause of the blaze at the 19th century Bontddu Hall on Friday morning (5th June).
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said the woman was rescued from the building but pronounced dead at the scene.
Crews from Dolgellau, Harlech, Barmouth, Bala and Blaenau Ffestiniog were called to the hotel at just before 9.10am.
A fire service spokesperson said an aerial ladder, high volume pump and the incident command unit also attended. North Wales Police are also investigating the fire.
It’s understood the owners were carrying out restoration work to turn the hotel into a private residence.
