A 70 year-old man has died after falling on Snowdon.

Emergency crews, including the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team, were called out at around 3.30pm on Tuesday afternoon (11th September) after he fell near the intersection of the Miners Path and PYG tracks.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency helicopter attended the scene with a paramedic and picked up more mountain rescue team members carrying extra equipment.

The man was put on a stretcher and winched safely off the mountain – he was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor but later died from his injuries.

A LMRT spokesperson said: ”Our sincerest condolences go to the family and friends of our fellow hillwalker and also our thanks to the passers-by who did all they could to try to make this a better outcome.”
