A man has been questioned after an assault at a troubled pub in Pwllheli.
A 25 year-old man was taken to hospital with serious facial injuries at the Boat House on Stryd Fawr at just before 10pm last Friday night (27th December).
It’s thought to be one of a number of violent incidents which led to the pub being forced to close for 48 hours over the New Year.
A 27 year-old local man was arrested the day after the attack but later released on bail pending further inquiries.
PC Kelly Mitchell described it as a ‘nasty assault’, adding: ”Our enquiries are ongoing, however we are appealing to anybody who may have witnessed the incident, or to anybody who may have information to come forward.”
On Monday afternoon, the pub, formerly known as the Tower Hotel, was shut down by officers under a 48 hour closure order.
According to police, several people, including officers and members of the public, had been injured at the pub over Christmas.
District Inspector Matt Geddes said they had been left with ‘no confidence’ in the pub management preventing further disorder.
He added: ”This is not a decision taken lightly but is necessary to ensure public safety in the town…we will be working in partnership with Gwynedd Council moving forward to ensure significant improvement if the premises are to continue trading.”
Anyone with information about the assault should contact North Wales Police on 101, quoting reference no. X186186. Alternatively, contact the police control room via the live web chat.
