Woman seriously injured in A496 crash

A woman is seriously ill in hospital after a car crash in south Gwynedd.

Police say a silver Toyota Corolla hit a tree on the A496 between Bontddu and Barmouth at around 12.30am on Monday morning (5th August). It’s believed the car travelled from Barmouth and was heading towards Dolgellau when the crash occurred.

The woman, who was a passenger in the Corolla, was taken to Ysbyty Bronglais in Aberystwyth with serious injuries.

Detective Inspector Andy Gibson said: ”We would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the manner in which the car was being driven prior to the incident.”

He added officers wanted to speak to anyone ”who may have dash cam footage from their vehicle prior to the collision.”

Anyone with information should contact DI Gibson on 101, quoting reference no. X111895, or use the North Wales Police control room via the live web chat.
