A woman has died after she was hit by car on the A55 on Anglesey.
The road was closed between junctions 2 and 3 (Kingsland – Valley) after a pedestrian collided with a Vauxhall Corsa at just after 12.30pm on Thursday lunchtime (18th January).
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the Corsa was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor with minor injuries.
The Welsh Air Ambulance attended the scene of the collision, involving as many as four cars. The westbound carriageway was reopened at 2pm, but it took five hours for the eastbound side to reopen after recovery and investigation work.
Sergeant Emlyn Hughes from the Roads Policing Unit said: ”Sadly a woman was pronounced dead at the scene and we send our condolences to her family and friends.”
”We are appealing for any witnesses; or anybody who may have been travelling along that particular stretch of road and who may have dash cam footage to contact us as soon as possible.”
