Woman charged with jewellery shop burglary

A woman has appeared in court charged with a burglary at a jewellery store in Pwllheli.

Mairwen Owen (44) from Caernarfon is accused of taking watches and jewellery from the shop on Penlan Street last Monday night (28th January).

Owen was also allegedly involved in a robbery at a furniture shop on Ala Road the following day – and ended up with a suspected fracture of an eye socket.

Prosecutors told Llandudno magistrates that a second woman was taken to hospital with a suspected broken skull and several other injures – but she would face similar charges once she was discharged.

Owen didn’t enter a plea but her defence indicated she would deny the charges. She did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody – she’ll appear before a judge at Caernarfon Crown Court next month.
