Two men have been charged with the murder of David Jones in Holyhead.

The 58 year-old, known locally as DJ, died from extensive head injuries in hospital after he was ”badly assaulted” in the Thomas Street and Mount Pleasant area last Tuesday.

Gareth Wyn Jones (47) and Stuart Parkin (38), both from Holyhead, are due to appear before magistrates in Llandudno on Monday. Police are expected to ask the court to detain the pair on remand.

Meanwhile, detectives have been granted more time to question a 44 year-old local woman in connection with the murder investigation.

The suspect remains in custody following a special weekend court in Mold.

Detectives are still appealing for anyone who witnessed the attack to come forward. They also want to hear from anyone who saw a man ”unsteady on his feet” between Holborn Road, Victoria Road and Thomas Street between 10am and 11am last Tuesday.

DCI Brian Kearney, senior investigating officer, said: ”Despite two individuals being charged, I would continue to appeal for any witnesses who saw the victim, David John Jones also known as DJ, between 1000hrs and 1100hrs in Holyhead to come forward.”

”We will continue to conduct enquiries locally. Our thoughts remain with David’s family at this tragic time.”
