A motorcyclist killed in a crash in Trearddur Bay has been named.

Gareth Wyn Roberts from Holyhead died after his bike collided with a Ford Focus car on Lôn Sant Ffraid at around 11.30am on Wednesday morning. Police are still investigating the crash, which closed the road for several hours.

Mr Roberts’ family described him as a ”wonderful husband and father of two”. The 53 year-old worked as a teaching assistant at Ysgol y Bont in Llangefni – he was also a keen guitarist and drummer, playing with his friend in a band, ‘Section 3’.

His wife, Jemma, said in a statement: ”I can’t believe the shock I’ve had. Gareth always had a happy outlook on life and had a large circle of friends. The boys and I are grateful for the support we’ve had and respectfully ask for privacy to come to terms with our devastating loss.”

Officers at the Western Roads Policing Unit in Llandygai are appealing for witnesses to come forward. They’re especially keen to hear from the drivers of two blue vans seen in the area shortly after the crash.

One of the vans was small and carrying a roof rack – it was travelling from the direction of Holyhead towards Trearddur Bay at around 11.40am, ten minutes after the collision.

Anyone with information is urged to call 101, quoting reference no. W071431.
