Detectives are looking for three people following a spate of incidents involving fake £50 notes in south Gwynedd.
Police have warned local businesses to be vigilant after two men and a woman were caught trying to pay for low value goods using conterfeit Bank of Ireland notes in Penrhyndeduraeth, Blaenau Ffestiniog and Porthmadog since Thursday.
The suspects, who speak with Irish accents, are believed to be travelling in a dark blue Ford Transit van caught on CCTV, parked outside a building merchants in Penrhyndeudraeth.
One of the men has an ‘Angel wing’ tattoo on the left side of his neck.
A spokesperson for North Wales Police said: ”It is believed that these individuals may travel throughout the North Wales area, and as such we advise anyone who is offered a Bank of Ireland £50 note to undertake the usual checks, and if any suspicious circumstances occur, please contact us on 101.”
”Likewise, any sightings of the distinctive vehicle pictured. which has Irish number plates. should be reported immediately.”
