Three people have been rescued after their boat broke down near Puffin Island.

The RNLI lifeboat from Beaumaris was called out after a 32ft vessel suffered an engine failure at just after 4pm on Saturday.

It was escorted by the lifeboat, but when they reached the east side of the island, the second engine began to overheat. It was later towed to Conwy, where it was berthed by coastguard teams.

A RNLI spokesperson said the boat’s first engine had already overheated and the second had been deemed ”unreliable” before failing. The lifeboat returned to Beaumaris just over two hours after it was called out by the Coastguard.
