Police are looking for a key witness to a fatal road collision on the A5 near Holyhead.

It’s believed a man gave first aid to father-of-two Dean Short after he was hit by a car near the Tesco store on the Penrhos industrial estate on Tuesday night (25th February).

Emergency crews arrived shortly afterwards but the 54 year-old, from Rhiwlas, Bangor, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The female driver of a black Ford Fiesta car was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor with minor injuries.

Sergeant Meurig Jones from the Roads Policing Unit said: ”We know this man tried to help the victim, and therefore, we believe he may have important information that can help us progress with our enquiries.”

”If you were that man, please get in touch with us as soon as possible by calling us on 101, or contacting us via our website quoting incident number Y027144.”

Police are also appealing for any witnesses who saw a man walking between Tesco and the scene of the collision between 6.30pm and 7pm that evening. They’re also keen to hear from anyone who was travelling in the area and may have dashcam footage.

Mr Short’s sister, Kerys, described him as a man who ”touched so many people’s hearts” and ”was always kind and considerate to others”.
