Peter Colwell death: gamekeeper guilty of possessing shotgun

Boduan Shoot

A gamekeeper has been found guilty of possessing a loaded shotgun after a teenager was shot dead in a pub car park.

Ben Fitzsimons, from Nanhoron near Pwllheli, denies manslaughter by gross negligence after Peter Colwell was fatally wounded outside the Ship Inn in Llanbedrog in February 2017.

Ben Wilson (29), from Ely in Cambridgeshire, is also accused of similar charges.

Fitzsimons (22) was found guilty at Caernarfon Crown Court following four days of deliberations – but the jury is still considering its verdicts on the manslaughter charges.

Another two men have been cleared of any involvement in the shooting. Michael Fitzsimons (25) from Nanhoron, and Harry Butler (23) from Llaniestyn, were found not guilty of possessing a shotgun in a public place.

The jury were sent home on Tuesday evening after delivering their initial verdicts. They are due to resume their deliberations on Wednesday morning.
