Patrols step up after ‘clown’ spotted near Bangor school

Police patrols have been stepped up around a Bangor primary school after a child claimed they saw someone dressed as a clown.

The nine-year old pupil at Ysgol y Garnedd said they saw the ‘clown’ acting suspiciously in fields at the back of the school at around 12.40pm on Thursday lunchtime (7 June).

Several officers turned up at the school on Penrhos Road but found no trace of the suspicious person despite a ”thorough and prolonged search”.

Sergeant Dana Baxter said they were keeping an open mind about what happened – and police will stay in the area ”to provide a visible presence…and community reassurance.”

Anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area should contact Bangor police station on 101, quoting reference no. W075769.
