A woman who went missing on a mountain peak in the Ogwen Valley has been found dead.
A mountain rescue team discovered the body of a hiker from an upper cliff on Glyder Fawr at around 9am on Friday morning (4th May).
It’s believed she slipped and fell while walking alone – she was reported missing after failing to return from her hike on Thursday night.
The woman in her forties, thought to be from South Wales, was airlifted to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor but pronounced dead. Police said she had not yet been formally identified.
A search and rescue team from RAF Valley and the coastguard helicopter from Caernarfon assisted in the search led by the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue team.
They said the woman had been well equipped and she was found quickly because she sent messages to her friends from her phone.
