Man dies after Rhosneigr beach rescue

A man pulled from the sea at Rhosneigr by rescue crews has died.

Police said the man in his early twenties was swimming with friends when he got into difficulty at around 7.50pm on Tuesday evening (8th May).

He was airlfited to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor but died a short time later, despite the efforts of his friends and medical staff.

The man has not been named publicly while his next of kin are being informed – but it’s understood he is not from the local area and his death is not being treated as suspicious.

The coroner for North West Wales, Dewi Pritchard Jones, is expected to open an inquest in due course.

A RNLI crew from Trearddur Bay were involved in the rescue along with the coastguard helicopter from Caernarfon and paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service.
