Man charged after Maesgeirchen assault

A man has been charged after a serious assault in Bangor.

A vulnerable man was taken to hospital after he was attacked within the stairwell at a block of flats in Maesgeirchen on Wednesday afternoon (22nd April).

David Brian John (35) is accused of causing grevious bodily harm with intent. He was remanded in custody and will appear before magistrates in Mold.

Detectives say the victim was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor, where he is now recovering.

Detective Inspector Andy Gibson said: ”I want to reassure our community that whilst incidents like this are rare, North Wales Police remain committed to continue to investigate such serious offences. North Wales remains one of the safest parts of the United Kingdom.”

Police are still appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault at the Llys Branwen flats on Greenwood Avenue at around 4.30pm to come forward.
