Detectives say they’re treating a big Boxing Day fire at a former primary school building as arson.
It took over seven hours for crews to put out the blaze at the disused Anglesey Teachers Centre on Bridge Street on Thursday night (26th December).
No one was injured but the building suffered severe damage in what was the second arson attack at the site this year.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said it sent out three crews from Holyhead, Benllech and Llangefni, along with the aerial ladder platform from Bangor, at around 5.40pm.
Bridge Street remained closed in both directions until shortly after the fire was extinguished at just before 1am on Friday morning. Investigators later confirmed that the cause of the fire had been ”deliberate ignition”.
North Wales Police said officers were called out to the scene by fire officers at just before 6pm. A spokesperson said: ”We are treating it as arson and enquiries are ongoing at this moment in time.”
