Llangefni pub death ‘not suspicious’

The death of an Aberffraw man in a pub is no longer being treated as suspicious.

A post-mortem examination has found Philip Hughes (52) died from natural causes at The Market Vaults in Llangefni town centre.

His body was found in the toilets of the pub on Bulkley Square at just after midnight on Tuesday (16th October).

A 32 year-old woman, arrested on suspicion of murder, has been released without charge following several hours of questioning.

Police said a Home Office pathologist carried out a post-mortem on Mr Hughes’ body at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd in Bodelwyddan on Tuesday afternoon.

While foul play has been ruled out, detectives said Mr Hughes’ death was unexpected. His next of kin have been informed – they have also been supported by specialist liaison officers.

A file will be prepared and sent to the coroner for North West Wales, Dewi Pritchard Jones. An inquest into the death is expected to open in due course.
