Four men have admitted stealing more than £1200 worth of clothes from a store in Bangor.

The thieves stole ‘high value’ items from Next at the Menai Retail Park on Friday (23rd August). They quickly fled the store in a Vauxhall Zafira, but their vehicle was stopped nearby by police.

Patrick Maguire (26), Martin Maguire (24), Michael Keenan (36) and Anthony Mongans (29), of Hill Lane, Manchester, pleaded guilty to theft when they appeared at a special weekend court in Llandudno.

Magistrates heard Patrick Maguire was wanted by police since he skipped a court appearance three years ago.

He also pleaded guilty to attempted theft from a shipping container in Gloucestershire in November 2015.

The defence argued the arrest warrant had never been mentioned to Maguire when he travelled to and from Ireland via Holyhead port.

According to police, the gang’s car displayed false number plates with another set of false plates inside. The stolen property was recovered.

All four men were refused bail and remanded in custody until sentencing at Caernarfon on Thursday.
