A former school building in Llangefni has been gutted by fire.
An investigation’s underway into the cause of the blaze at the former Ysgol y Bont site on Bridge Street during the early hours of Thursday (2nd May).
Four fire engines from Llangefni, Bangor, Benllech and Menai Bridge were called out to the derelict building next to the Huws Gray builders merchants at around 12.10am.
Police closed the road between the Home Bargains store and Capel Uchaf as crews took more than three hours to bring the fire under control.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said the building was completely damaged by smoke and suffered around 20% fire damage. A large part of the roof also collapsed.
Investigators returned to the scene later on Thursday to try and establish how the fire started.
Around 52 new homes have been earmarked for the former school site, which lies behind the £10 million Hafan Cefni complex, which opened last year.
