Five rescued after speedboat breakdown

RNLI / Richard Harris

Five people have been rescued after a speedboat broke down near Puffin Island.

The RNLI crew at Beaumaris were called out at around 3.50pm on Sunday afternoon to a boat located by the Dinmore Quarry site around the headland at Penmon. Two adults and three boys were on board at the time.

The speedboat was towed safely to the slipway at Menai Bridge and put on a trailer with help from coastguards at Penmon.

The RNLI said a relief craft, the Norma Ethel Vinall, was used in the two-hour callout, as the inshore Annette Mary Liddington lifeboat is being refurbished at Cowes on the Isle of Wight.
