Britannia Bridge crash: van driver charged

A Polish van driver has been charged with causing a crash on the Britannia Bridge which left another driver with life threatening injuries.

Sbigniew Mularczyk (39) was arrested on Thursday night after a two vehicle collision on the A55 westbound involving his light goods vehicle and a blue Skoda Octavia.

The driver of the Skoda, Orron Leighton, is being treated for serious injuries at Royal Stoke University Hospital. The crash closed the bridge for over four hours.

Mularczyk was remanded in custody by Llandudno magistrates on Saturday, accused of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He will appear before a judge at a later date.
