A truck driver has been arrested after a crash on the Britannia Bridge which left a man fighting for his life in hospital.
The A55 was closed for four hours after a blue Skoda Octavia collided with a foreign registered light goods vehicle on the Anglesey side of the bridge at just before 10.30pm on Thursday night.
The Skoda driver was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor with serious, life threatening injuries and later transferred to the Royal Stoke University Hospital. He had been travelling off Anglesey and heading towards Bangor.
The driver of the goods vehicle, who was travelling towards the island, is in police custody on suspicion of dangerous driving. Another man – in the Skoda – is believed to have sustained minor injuries.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or saw either vehicle beforehand to call 101, quoting reference no. V181116.
