Arrest after cars targeted by thieves in Caernarfon

One person has been arrested in connection with a spate of thefts from cars in and around Caernarfon.

Officers say parked and unattended vehicles were targeted in Caernarfon, Waunfawr and Dinorwig last weekend. A number of items were stolen from the cars after their windows their smashed or an unlocked door was opened.

District Inspector Owain Llewellyn said: ”Unfortunately property had been left in view by the owners…a range of property was stolen but frustratingly it could have been avoided if owners had taken a few simple security measures.”

The incidents came just days after the launch of Operation Ceal, a new campaign aimed at cracking down on thefts from cars in the Bangor and Caernarfon areas.

Inspector Llewellyn added: ”Please take a little extra time to check your vehicle when you leave it and if possible, remove all items of value and lock the vehicle ensuring any alarm or immobiliser is activated.”

Anyone with information about car crime in the area should contact North Wales Police on 101, quoting reference no. RC17168539, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
