Third defeat on the trot for Bangor

Bangor City 0-1 Cefn Druids

Four defeats in their last five games have left City’s title bid in the lurch not so long after they were sitting at the top of the table. Inevitably, the pressure will build even more on manager Kevin Nicholson, whose call to a ‘back to basics’ approach went unheeded at Nantporth on Friday night.

The Ancients, looking to leapfrog Bangor into fourth, wasted little time. Keeper Matthew Hall, making his first start this season, dropped a cross when he was apparently impeded and Alec Mudimu punished him by turning the ball in on 14 minutes.

Lewis Buckley came close to scoring a second for the Druids when he hit the post after some poor defending from the hosts. A free kick from City’s Steven Hewitt just after the hour was pushed onto the crossbar by Michael Jones. It turned out to be the closest Bangor ever threatened to equalise.

The Druids are now unbeaten in seven while City fall to three straight losses in the WPL with a visit to Newtown next up on Saturday 4th November.
