A prolific Anglesey criminal who broke into a church has been jailed for six months.

David Valencia admitted the burglary at Capel Libanus in Benllech and stealing a bottle of sherry from a nearby Spar shop over the weekend.

Llandudno magistrates heard Valencia (68) stole food from the chapel and soiled the stairs before falling asleep. He had previously been offered help by the church.

After sentencing, Sergeant Emma Williams at Llangefni police station said the sentence would provide some relief to the local community and Valencia’s victims: ”It is important the Criminal Justice System imposes strong sentences on those few intent on disrupting the lives of the vast majority of law abiding citizens. I welcome the sentence and hope it will provide the public with reassurance and make our communities safer.”
