A menswear store in Bangor has closed despite its owners being saved from liquidation.
Greenwoods has been brought by Versatile International Trading Ltd, a month after the chain called in the administrators. The sale will save forty of the group’s stores across the UK, including one in Llandudno.
But another 22 branches – including the Bangor store at the Deiniol Shopping Centre – have been shut immediately with the loss of 88 jobs. The shops were not thought to be part of the rescue deal.
Joint administrators Adrian Berry said the deal represented the best outcome for the Bradford-based business, which has been trading since 1860.
