Funding available for disabled inclusion projects

An Anglesey family scheme is to hand out funding for local projects to benefit disabled children.

Groups and organisations on the island are being encouraged to apply for grants of up to £1,000 for play and leisure activities which promote social inclusion.

Debbie Jones from Ynys Mon Families First said: ”This funding is a great opportunity to raise the awareness of the importance of inclusion and to demonstrate how disabled individuals can be included in all activities.”

”Last year, the funding enabled children and young people with disabilities participate in activities such as nature craft and bushcraft, swimming sessions for families, dancing sessions, climbing and kayaking.”

”This grant will ensure that children and young people with disabilities and their families have the same choices as their peers, will educate people on the different impairments and give a greater understanding of how to include everyone through fun and engaging activities.”
