Rogue traders targeting elderly residents

Police have warned against rogue traders targeting elderly residents on Anglesey.

It follows reports of a company cold calling people in Llanddona and Amlwch in recent weeks, offering building and repair services. Officers say it’s possible rogue traders may still be trying to take advantage in the wake of Storm Ophelia.

PCSO Iona Beckmann said: ”We are simply reminding residents to be on their guard and that if in doubt, keep them out. If you don’t want to do business with the trader don’t let them in. We will continue to work closely with our colleagues at Anglesey County Council’s Trading Standards Department in a bid to stop rogue traders targeting members of our communities.”

Police have recommended anyone needing work to use the Buy with Confidence scheme or contacting the council’s Trading Standards officers on 01248 752840 for a list of approved traders.

Anyone who notices any suspicious activity from rogue traders is urged to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
