Two arrested in south Gwynedd drugs raids

Two people have been arrested in a series of drugs raids in south Gwynedd.

A man and a woman in their early twenties are being questioned by detectives after controlled drugs were seized from a house in Pwllheli on Wednesday.

Two searches were also carried out on addresses in Blaenau Ffestiniog on Tuesday. There were no arrests but mobile phones and drugs-related paraphernalia were discovered.

Police said the raids were part of a pro-active week of action in the area in their ongoing Operation Scorpion crackdown on serious and organised crime.

District Inspector Gethin Jones said: ”Our goal of targeting those few in our communities who cause the most harm will continue and in line with the forces’ Operation Scorpion is directly targeting those involved in serious and organised crime.  We are determined to keep our communities safe.”

”Possession and distribution of controlled drugs will not be tolerated in our communities and we will continue to take positive, robust action.  However we can’t tackle this problem alone and key to all our work – and that of our partners – is intelligence and I cannot emphasise enough the importance of the community sharing their concerns with us.”

Anyone with information about drug-related activity should call North Wales Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
