Craig’s double sends Cofis to the top

Caernarfon Town have reached the top of the Huws Gray Alliance with a 3-0 win over Ruthin Town.

The Canaries, among the favourites to be crowned champions this season, recorded a third straight win at The Oval on Wednesday night amid typically Autumnal weather.

Nathan Craig, who clinched a hattrick against Llandudno Junction last week, was on target again when he drilled home a free kick in the ninth minute.

Jamie Breese doubled the Cofis’ lead just before the break but Craig’s penalty sealed the points early in the second half – taking the captain’s goal tally this season to eight.

Caernarfon go a point clear of Airbus UK Broughton, who fell to a shock defeat to Porthmadog last weekend. The new leaders round off a run of home games when FC Queens Park take on Town this Saturday.

Elsewhere on Wednesday night, Llangefni Town lost 3-0 to Prestatyn Town in the Welsh Alliance’ Reserves Division. Cefni have yet to win away from home this season while Prestatyn extended their lead at the top of the table to six points.
