It’s emerged that a big cannabis farm was found in a flat above a Caernarfon shop gutted by fire.
Police have confirmed a large haul was discovered in a privately rented flat above the Get Connected store on Pool Street following the blaze on Monday.
But the fire itself was started by an electrical fault involving the main supply board in the basement.
At its height, six fire crews were at the scene and several nearby shops and flats in the town centre were evacuated. The street was also closed to the public throughout the day.
No one was injured but police have not said if there were any arrests in connection with the cannabis find.
The cause of the fire was confirmed following a joint investigation involving officers from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and North Wales Police.
A NWP spokesperson said: ”We can confirm that we are aware of a large cannabis cultivation in residential flats in the location…The fire investigation has confirmed that the cause of the fire was electrical involving the main incoming electrical supply board.”
