Biker seriously ill after Bangor crash

A motorcyclist has been seriously injured after a two-vehicle crash in Bangor.

A local man in his early 20s was riding an orange and black trails-type motorbike when it collided with a yellow Suzuki car outside the Union Inn pub on Caernarfon Road at just before 4.15pm on Thursday afternoon (25th July).

The biker was airlifted by air ambulance to a specialist trauma unit at the Royal Stoke University Hospital.

The road was closed for more than four hours between the Matalan roundabout and the railway station bridge.

Police are now appealing for anyone who saw the motorbike travelling in the Ainon Road and Heol Dewi area at around 4pm – or the Suzuki car, which was travelling along Caernarfon Road from the city centre.

Sergeant Meurig Jones from the Roads Policing Unit said: ”We are also urging anybody who witnessed the collision and who is yet to contact us to do so as soon as possible.”

”Local enquiries are now underway and we are also appealing to anybody who lives in the vicinity and who may have CCTV cameras to contact us.”

Anyone with information should contact the Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting reference no. X105581.
