A court has heard a banned driver was chased by police around Caernarfon on Christmas Eve.
Barry Griffiths was jailed for twelve weeks after he admitted driving a Fiat Punto around town while drunk and disqualified. He was already serving a six year ban for driving while disqualified.
Llandudno magistrates heard the chase ended when Griffiths (44) abandoned the car in a playground. He was arrested while walking in the street and found to be at nearly twice the drink drive limit.
Griffiths also admitted careless driving, driving without any insurance and failing to stop for a police officer. His lawyer said his guilty pleas were his best defence and he took a ‘pragmatic view’ about the sentence.
The existing driving ban was extended by another 14 months.
