Holyhead man accused of child kidnap dies in jail

One of six people charged over an alleged child kidnapping has died in jail.

The body of 65 year-old Robert Frith was discovered at HMP Berwyn in Wrexham on Saturday.

His death is not being treated as suspicious and the Prisons Ombudsman has been informed.

Frith, from Holyhead, was on remand after a child was allegedly abducted at knifepoint in Gaerwen earlier this month. The child was found unharmed several hours later on the M1 in Northamptonshire.

Frith’s partner, Jane Going-Hill (59), also from Holyhead, has also been charged with kidnap.

The other suspects, facing similar charges, are Dr Anke Hill (51) of Llanfaethlu, Edward Stevenson (68) and his wife Janet (66) of Crawley, West Sussex, and Wilfred Wong (55) of Camden, North London.

Wong is also accused of possessing a knife.

The five defendants are due to appear before a judge at Caernarfon Crown Court on Monday 7th December.
