A former church minister has been charged with up to 40 sex offences.
It’s believed Ben Thomas was pastor at the Criccieth Family Church between 2008 and 2019. Last November, a police investigation began into allegations of recent and historical offences at the church.
Thomas (44) from Flint is accused of indecent assaults against children and adults over the past 30 years. It’s believed some of the offences happened in Shropshire, London and Romania.
Before becoming a preacher in 2005, he worked for BBC Cymru Wales as a reporter and presenter on the children’s news programme Ffeil, before working on Wales Today.
Thomas spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth when he appeared before Llandudno magistrates on Friday afternoon.
He was bailed and will appear before a judge at Mold Crown Court on Friday 17th July.
A North Wales Police spokesperson said its investigation was continuing: ”If anybody who has not already spoken to us feels they may have information of relevance to the enquiry, please make contact.”
