Detectives have launched an inquiry into allegations of sex offences at a church in Criccieth.
A 43 year-old local man has been arrested and questioned as part of an investigation into alleged recent and historical offences at Criccieth Family Church.
The suspect – a former member of the church – has been released on bail.
A North Wales Police spokesperson said it was aware of rumours circulating in the area and the possible impact.
Detective Superintendent Gareth Evans said their enquiries were ”sensitive and complex” and would take weeks to complete.
He added: ”We have a team of specialist officers dedicated to the enquiry who are working with the safeguarding team from the church and our partners in local authorities”
”I would like to reassure our local communities that there are no ongoing risks you need to be worried about, however if you feel you are affected in anyway then please make contact with us.”
The church, which was formed in 2000, has yet to make any comment.
