Caernarfon Town’s Oval ground will play host to a ‘C’ international between Wales and England next Spring.

Cymru C, the national semi-pro squad formed in 2016, will take on their English counterparts on Tuesday 24th March 2020 (7.45 kick off) in an annual game being held for the first time in North Wales.

Their last encounter, at Salford in March, ended in a 2-2 draw with goals for Barry Town United striker Kayne McLaggon and former Cardiff Met marksman Adam Roscrow (now at AFC Wimbledon).

Mark Jones will once again take charge of Cymru C, assisted by former midfielder-turned broadcaster Owain Tudur Jones.

Both semi-pro teams usually feature some of the best talent from the Cymru Premier and the National League, respectively. When the two nations first met at Barry’s Jenner Park in March 2018, England ran out 3-2 winners.

Mark Jones said he was excited about bringing the international to one of Wales’ footballing hotbeds: ”We know that not only the Cofis passionate fans will come out in support of the Cymru C squad at The Oval but all those in the surrounding area as well, and we can’t wait to bring international football to their doorstep.”

”This will be the third match between Cymru and England in as many seasons and I will be attempting to assemble a strong squad to give us the best possible chance in March.”

England C manager Paul Fairclough added: ”In the last two seasons we have renewed our links with our friends from the FAW, resulting in this established annual fixture.”

”The previous encounters have provided a feast of goals and entertainment for the fans of football. The technical quality outstanding. I am confident that we have another great game of football to look forward to.”

Caernarfon Town were represented in this year’s draw at Salford by goalkeeper Alex Ramsay and influential midfielder Danny Brookwell.

Bala Town’s Chris Venables has featured in both internationals – and scored for Wales in 2018. He was joined by teammate Henry Jones in the squad for the 2019 match.

The FAW said ticketing details for the game will be released in due course.
