A man has died after he was hit by a van near Bryncrug in south Gwynedd.
Police say the pedestrian was struck by a grey Mercedes Vito van on the A493 between Bryncrug and Tywyn at around 9.45pm on Saturday night (5th October).
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his next of kin have been informed. He was not from the local area, but officers have released no further details.
The road remained closed for more than five hours as officers launched an investigation into the collision.
Sergeant Meurig Jones from the Roads Policing Unit said: ”Sadly we are now investigating a fatal road traffic collision and our thoughts remain with the man’s family.”
”We are appealing to anybody who may have witnessed the collision, or anybody who may have seen a pedestrian walking in the carriageway between Tywyn and Bryncrug to come forward.”
