Anglesey pubs caught serving underage drinkers

An undercover police operation has found two pubs on Anglesey served underage drinkers.

Test purchases were carried out on fourteen licensed premises across the island during December – it followed checks on several pubs carried out by police, fire service and council officers.

A specialist team of officers and four detection dogs were also deployed to crackdown on drug activity in licensed premises.

Ahead of New Year’s Eve, detectives revealed four local people were charged with public disorder following a night out in Menai Bridge a few months ago. Police are stepping up patrols around Anglesey town centres and pubs on one of the busiest nights of the year.

District Inspector Llinos Davies said: ”The message is clear, enjoy yourselves but do so in a safe and responsible way. Be mindful of the fact that excessive drinking can affect behaviour and lead to serious consequences.”

”Antisocial behaviour and violence will not be tolerated. Don’t let that be you and ruin your New Year!”

She added: ”The response to these visits has been extremely positive by both the licensees and the patrons. Anglesey police are committed to ensuring that our licensed premises are safe and run responsibly. Further such visits are planned for the near future.”
