A man who raped a vulnerable woman has been jailed for thirteen years.
A judge told Lindsay Maher he had shown ”no remorse whatsoever” for the sex attacks at the victim’s bungalow.
The 53 year-old from Bro’r Ysgol, Bodedern, denied four charges, including rape, attempted rape and sexual assault between January 2014 and April 2017. He was found guilty by a jury at Mold Crown Court.
During the trial last month, prosecutors said Maher had gained the woman’s trust by carrying out her chores, then abused it by carrying out his sexual fantasies on her.
Police were only alerted about the assaults after the victim went to visit her GP. In a victim impact statement, the woman – who cannot be named for legal reasons – said she was now trying to move on.
Maher had claimed the sexual relationship had taken place with her consent. During sentencing at Caernarfon Crown Court, his defence said he suffered from ill health and would find a prison term very difficult, having already been attacked while in custody.
He was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register.
