Drivers warning after spate of vehicle break-ins

North Wales Police

Drivers have been warned to keep their vehicles secure after a spate of thefts in the Bangor and Caernarfon areas.

Detectives say ‘opportunist’ thieves have stolen items that were left on display in vehicles in the Parc Menai, Penrhosgarnedd, Siliwen, Cibyn and High Street areas. The break-ins occurred over the past ten days.

Sergeant Catherine Walker said the criminals had mostly targeted insecure vehicles, giving them a ”perfect opportunity’‘ to strike.

She added: ”I would urge people to help us by removing any items and securing their vehicles…the majority of vehicle crime is avoidable.”

”It only takes a few seconds to remove valuables and lock your vehicle, please don’t make it easy for opportunist thieves…even a jacket left on the backseat of a car is tempting enough.”

Anyone with any information about the thefts – or who may be involved in selling stolen goods, should contact North Wales Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
