Nine teams from Anglesey and Gwynedd remain in this season’s FAW Trophy.
The only local derby in the third round sees Pwllheli entertain Llanberis. Both came away from their second round ties with convincing wins on Saturday – David Jones scored a hattrick in Llanberis’ 5-2 victory at Amlwch, while Jake Jones scored a brace for Pwllheli as they beat Llanuwchllyn.
Glantraeth are the only remaining local club from outside the Welsh Alliance, after edging out Penmaenmawr Phoenix 4-3. The Gwynedd League outfit been rewarded with one of the potential ties of the round and another potential upset – at home to Chirk AAA, who won the Trophy in 2016-17.
Among the other ties, Welsh Alliance leaders Llangefni Town – who dispatched Gaerwen 3-0 – are at home to Penycae, and fellow pacesetters Nantlle Vale, who needed extra time to knock out Llanrwst, are the visitors at Greenfield.
The biggest winners of the second round were Llanrug United – as top scorer James Phillips scored a hattrick while Carl Griffiths and Gavin Lloyd-Jones bagged two goals apiece to demolish Llandudno Amateurs 7-0. Next up, they’ll face Lex XI from the Welsh National League.
