A man has been arrested after a serious three-vehicle crash on the outskirts of Brynrefail.
The A4244 was closed for around five hours after the collision between a black VW Golf, a Mazda MX5 and a Nissan Duke at around 3pm on Sunday afternoon (8th July).
The driver of the Nissan Duke was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor but later transferred to the Royal Stoke University Hospital with serious injuires. Three people – including the driver of the Mazda – were taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd.
Police say the Golf driver – a 49 year-old – left the scene without checking on the welfare of the four people injured.
He was arrested a short time later on suspicion of dangerous drink driving, failing to stop after a crash and failing to stop for police. The driver remains in police custody.
Officers have appealed for any witnesses who may have seen the Golf being driven dangerous from the Bethesda area at some point between 2.30pm and 3pm that day.
