Caernarfon’s Welsh Premier return: first fixtures announced

Caernarfon Town can now really plan ahead for their return to the Welsh Premier League.

The Canaries’ first top-flight season in nine years will begin with a home clash against Cefn Druids on Sunday 12 August at 5.15pm.

Perhaps not surprisingly, S4C’s Sgorio – produced in Caernarfon – will start it’s 30th anniversary season by screening the game live.

The first test on the road for Sean Eardley’s men follows five days later when they visit Newtown, rounding out August away at high-flying Cardiff Met on 26th August before facing reigning champions The New Saints at the Oval in another Friday night clash (31st August).

As such, their first Saturday fixture comes almost a month into the new season when they entertain Barry Town United.

Having missed out on the chance to revive lucrative local derbies with Bangor City, Caernarfon will have to settle for all-Gwynedd clashes with Bala on Friday 5th October at home and on the final day of Phase 1 at Maes Tegid (Saturday 12th January).

Llandudno, under ex-Cofis manager Iwan Williams, will offer the opposition for the festive double bill at home on Boxing Day and away on New Year’s Day.

As usual, all fixtures are subject to change…
