Fraud fugitive jailed after Benllech arrest

North Yorkshire Police

A North Yorkshire man who went on the run after skipping a court hearing has been jailed for five and a half years.

John Joseph Duggan was arrested in Benllech last Friday. North Yorkshire Police issued a warrant for the 58 year-old from Harrogate when he failed to appear at Leeds Crown Court in March in connection with a high value fraud case.

Three weeks ago, a judge sentenced Duggan to prison while he was still on the run.

North Wales Police said Duggan, who has known links to the Caernarfon area, was living under a false name when he was tracked down. He was taken back to court and has now begun his sentence.

Detectives have thanked the public for their help in locating him.
